Carnation readies for Fourth of July celebration

  • Written by Valley View Staff

“Great Balls of Fire” is the theme for this year’s Great Carnation 4th of July Celebration.

The city will be celebrating America’s birthday with a parade, 5K run/walk, pancake breakfast, live music, raffles, 3 on 3 basketball, vendor village featuring food/arts & crafts, Mom’s Room, beer garden, Sno-Valley Seniors’ famous Strawberry Shortcake and, of course at dusk, the fireworks display (donations are welcome to help with the cost of fireworks).

Riverview School District Superintendent Dr. Anthony Smith has been named grand marshal, “because of his commitment not just for the schools but of all that he has done for the community,” reported longtime event coordinator Kim Lisk.

The other big news, Lisk said, is that the Chinese Girls Drill Team will be returning for the parade.
The parade judges this year will be members of the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network.

Gone from the event list this year is the car show, Lisk said. She also wants to remind residents that discharge of personal fireworks, except sparklers, is prohibited.
