Cascade Community Theatre produces ‘Casablanca Casablanca, A Movie Musical’

  • Written by Leanne Christensen
Cascade Community Theatre is pleased to announce performances of an original musical comedy, “Casablanca Casablanca, A Movie Musical,” with music and lyrics by Terence Alaric Levitt and book by Linda Ballew.

Performances will be at Cedarcrest High School Performing Arts Center, 29000 NE 150th Street, Duvall. Performances will run from October 13th through the 23rd.

This Northwest premiere of a 2009 New York Musical Festival Next Link finalist is set in 1948 Casablanca, Morocco, with characters borrowed from the classic 1940s movies such as: “To Have and To Have Not,”               “Casablanca,” Bing and Bob “Road” movies and even favorites such as Danny Kaye’s “The Court Jester.”

Sammamish authors, Linda Ballew and Terence Alaric Levitt, have five previously produced musicals, and in 2008 produced readings of their latest, “War of the Currents –  the Story of Edison and Tesla,” in both New York City and Seattle.

Book writer Ballew says: “Although “Casablanca Casablanca, A Movie Musical” is a zany, fun-filled musical comedy, it gently alludes to how our movies have influenced who we are and how we think as Americans.”

Ballew says that despite containing some mild sexual suggestiveness and innuendo, the show is suitable and fun for all ages – especially for classic movie buffs and grandparents who remember these classic films and stars.
