Austin Jenckes to hold benefit concert for Oso

  • Written by Valley View Staff

Duvall-raised singer/songwriter Austin Jenckes will play a solo concert in Duvall on Saturday, April 19, to benefit those affected by the March 22 mudslide in Oso.

The soulful singer showed the world some of what locals have loved for years when he was selected for Team Blake on season 5 of “The Voice,” and made it into the top-10 finalists. Since appearing on the show last fall, Jenckes has been touring from Bellingham to L.A., Montana, Texas and New York.

Seattle Times Soundposts writer Owen Smith wrote of a Jenckes show: “Full of an infectious energy that seemed to thrum deep within him, country singer-songwriter Austin Jenckes burst onto The Crocodile’s stage in a whirl of heartfelt lyrics and syrupy, satisfying hooks. He showed off his songwriting pedigree with ‘Get You Higher,’ another polished piece of pop country with soaring vocals and a sing-a-long chorus.”

Having grown up in Duvall, Jenckes has a close connection to the small-town lifestyle. His return to the Snoqualmie Valley to visit family after an extensive tour provided the perfect opportunity to tap into his strong local fan base and raise money for the ongoing relief efforts in Oso.

All revenue from ticket sales will go to the North Counties Relief Fund. More information on Oso relief can be found at http://www.town.darrington.wa.us.

The concert is made possible by the  Rotary Club of Duvall, Cascade Community Theatre, the City of Duvall and Christopher Watkins, division president, Diamond Residential Mortgage.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome.

The concert will be held at the Riverview School District Educational Service Center, 15510 1st Avenue NE.
Tickets: $15 at www.BrownPaperTickets.com http://austinforoso.bpt.me  up to 24 hours in advance or $20 at the door (cash/debit/credit).
