Two males were looking for unlocked cars in an unincorporated area in Woodinville between NE 154th Street and 181st Avenue NE.

The next day, Woodinville Police Detective Kelly Park served the search warrant on the suspects’ vehicle.

"Amazement" would be too mild of a word to describe her reaction to her findings. "It was so overloaded with stolen property," she says, "it was hard to know where to begin to sort everything out."

Among the items were emergency car kits, stereo equipment, tools, several GPS systems, clothing, cell phones, radar and liadar detectors, wallets, handbags, backpacks, a variety of hands- free devices, adaptors for electronic aids, 80 pairs of sunglasses, jewelry and watches (including a high end watch worth over $6,000), sporting equipment (new size-14 football cleats, footballs, soccer balls, tennis balls, golf shoes), hundreds of dollars in change and more.

Although she initially thought it wouldn’t be too difficult to return all of the stuff to its rightful owners, Detective Park soon changed her tune.

"It’s proving to be much harder than I thought," she says. "I’ve only been able to return a quarter of it so far." She adds, "Either people don’t know their stuff is missing yet or they just haven’t called in about it."

Detective Park encourages residents in the specified area to check on their belongings, particularly those left in their cars, on the evening/early morning of June 6/June 7.

"All of these items were taken from unlocked vehicles," she comments.

The two suspects, who are prolific thieves with prior records, were arrested and will face charges.

"Any assistance from the victims would be appreciated, as it could be helpful in prosecuting these men," adds Detective Park.
