21 Acres is offering several classes in July as part of its continuing education series: Growing, Eating, Living.
Fresh Strawberries; Saturday, July 9, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Join us for a delicious day of picking strawberries at 21 Acre’s farm. Make the fresh-picked berries into wonderful treats. Bring jars for jam and containers to take home leftovers. Chef Emily Moore, instructor at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Seattle, will be featured. Fee is $30 for adults; $15 for child, 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Bees in the Field: Nucleus Colony Maintenance; Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m. to noon.
This class will teach participants how to raise their own queens to develop naturally resistant stock or expand the number of their bee colonies; combine weak colonies to increase the chances of over wintering successfully and inspect hives to determine if they need to be adjusted for the nectar flow. Class fee is $25.
