The Winemaker Olympic Festival (formerly the Woodinville Winemakers’ Triathlon) takes place Wednesday, July 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Redhook Brewery grounds in Woodinville.
This year’s festival features local winemakers and brewmasters, restaurants and gourmet food trucks and as the highlight — the Winemaker Olympic Games.
The Winemaker Olympic Games will feature teams of winemakers competing against each other in such events as the barrel roll (winemaker inside), bung pass, fill the bottle, tug of war, and the wine balloon toss.
Each participating winery can enter teams of four or five members; the competition is sure to be as fun as it is intense.
The public is encouraged to join in the fun with additional games such as the wine stagger, ring toss and instant wine cellar.
Festival attendees will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the winemakers in a casual and fun environment.
Find out the secrets behind producing that delicious bottle of cabernet, learn their stylistic approach or maybe just challenge him or her to a game.
However you’d like to spend your mingling time, the winemakers are happy to join in the festivities with their friends and fans.
Aside from the featured wineries, attendees will have their choice of some delicious food.
Participating restaurants include Veraci Pizza, Marination Mobile, Skillet Street Food and Custom Kettle Korn.
The festival’s goal is to raise both awareness and funds for Heartbeat Serving Wounded Warriors, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that provides assistance to wounded service personnel and their families.
