Repairs under way; cause related to damaged sewer line

A damaged pipe carrying highly treated and disinfected effluent from King County’s Brightwater Treatment Plant to the York Pump Station in Redmond overflowed into a parking area near the railroad tracks in Woodinville last Wednesday afternoon.

The Woodinville Water District contacted King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division around 1:40 p.m. to report an overflow near the Woodinville Pump Station, located at 12900 Woodinville-Duvall Rd.

County employees responded quickly and were able to stop the overflow by approximately 3 p.m.

The overflow contained no raw sewage and emergency crews worked to repair the system that night.

Staff performed sampling and analysis of the overflow and notified regulatory agencies about the overflow. No waterbody was affected.
