Local grapplers advance to regionals

Four Woodinville wrestlers emerged as KingCo champions at the league meet in Issaquah on Saturday: A.J. Dedios at 126 pounds, Ryan Christensen at 160, Jake Hollister (220) and Jason Burroughs (285).

Inglemoor’s Gabe Seward (138) and Josh Koukal (195) and Bothell’s Brandon Davidson  (152) also won KingCo titles.

Falcon sophomore Christensen, who remains unbeaten at 37-0, was voted the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.

With the top five placers moving on to the Regional Tournament at Rogers High School (Puyallup) this Saturday, Northshore schools will be well-represented with 27 wrestlers across a dozen weight classes looking to punch tickets to Mat Classic XXII at the Tacoma Dome on Feb. 17.

Among them from Woodinville include Zach Gracia, Everett Bingisser, Garrett Foss, Connor McCaw,

Lucas Blasdell and Cole Stemmerman.

The Inglemoor contingent includes Mitchell Barker, Jake Lindloff, Ian Bedo, Jared Koukal, Sam Gastineau, Mark Johnson, Ty Utton, Ben Carson and Andrew Stocker.

Bothell will send Allen Resendiz, Kyle Hanson, Dustin Rohde, Max Hanson and Thompson Forker.

The top six placers in each weight class at regionals move on to the state tournament.
