Fire hits Woodinville home

  • Written by WF&R
At approximately 12:30 in the morning of February 16, Woodinville Fire & Rescue units responded to a structure fire near Timbercrest Junior High School.

The fire started in an upstairs bedroom. Initially two people in the home attempted to extinguish the fire before smoke became too thick and eventually all four people in the home made their way outside.

Fire crews arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Fire units from Duvall, Bothell and  Redmond also responded to assist in firefighting operations.

“The family was very fortunate that they were not seriously hurt in their attempts to extinguish the fire on their own” states Woodinville Fire Community Services  Officer David Weed. “Fire is very unpredictable. Smoke and fumes can quickly overcome you and lead to serious injury or death.

“The best course of action is to always get out quickly and leave firefighting to the firefighters.”

The upstairs of the house was damaged by heat and smoke.

The American Red Cross responded and provided assistance to the family.
