Small team wins big Eastside Gymnastics Academy captures state team championship

At the 2012 USA-Gymnastics Washington, Junior Olympic Program’s Level 5 Competition, the girls of Eastside Gymnastics Academy won the state team title for small teams (eight competitors or fewer) with a team score of 110.800.

The event was held April 28-29 at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Wash., and was hosted by Cascade Elite Gymnastics of Lynnwood, Wash.

Eastside Gymnastics Academy’s Level 5 Team is coached by Casey Campbell and Marina Mamedova. The winning team, which competed on four Olympic events (vault, bars, beam and floor), includes: Kenzie Bloom of Mukilteo, Taara Elahi of Kirkland, Sofia Fulkerson of Woodinville, Lacie Hoang of Bothell, and Alexa Midtbo, Natalie Schare, Leah Schare and Aya Watson all of Redmond.

During this same event Cassandra Henrickson of Redmond, also from Eastside Gymnastics, won the all-around gold medal for the Junior C division in Level 6 competition with a score of 36.525.
