Ten artisan Woodinville wineries offer ‘In the Cellar’ tasting event

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

Ten Woodinville artisan producing wineries have come together to elevate wine tasting in Woodinville to an elite level with a new event: Spring Barrel Wine Tasting on Sunday, May 20.

This spring wine event is tailored for those enthusiasts who have grown tired of the quick taste and mad dash to the next winery on the list. It’s for the aficionado who craves the essence of education in each wine experience and demands an event different from all others. True to its name, this is a real “in the cellar” experience, with winemakers in attendance at each of the 10 Woodinville wineries to discuss the wines, their craft, and guide attendees through tastings of wine from barrels in various stages of creation.

The collective’s talented artisan winemakers will show and explain the nuances of different phases of winemaking and offer sneak previews of future vintages.

“The easy drive to Woodinville and caliber of wineries here has made the big annual events increasingly crowded. The Spring Barrel Tasting by the Artisan Winery Collective is the exact opposite — an authentic, personal, in-the-cellar experience,” said spokesman Mark Newton of DiStefano Winery.  “People have heard of ‘slow food.’ This is sort of like ‘slow wine.’”

Artisan Producing Wineries of Woodinville include:

• Convergence Cellars

• Davenport Cellars

• DiStefano Winery

• Elevation Cellars

• JM Cellars

• Michael Florentino Cellars

• Page Cellars

• Patterson Cellars

• William Church Winery
