Down on the farm

Courtesy Photo The Sammamish Valley Festival will feature music, pony rides, games, a wine garden, farming activities and hay rides. The festival will be held Aug. 17-18.
The second annual Sammamish Valley Festival will be held, Friday, August 17,  and Saturday, August 18, beginning  at ll a.m. and running into the evening on thefarm near the old Hollywood Schoolhouse (16215 140th PL NE, Woodinville 98072) with parking just south of the site.

Although music and fun will fill the day, the festival will  also feature small scale farming activities and the community that supports the Sammamish Valley Agricultural Production District

The informal stage presentations will offer bluegrass and western swing music.

Group presentations, story telling, a disc jockey spinning 45s and LPs, and informative introductions to the work of community groups will join the bands on stage throughout the day.

Additional activities include a tethered hot air balloon in the evening, pony rides and games for kids, a wine garden with wine tasting for the adults, plus hay rides and walks through the farmland.

The $5 entry fee supports non-profit action and kids are free.

There is also access from the Sammamish River Trail for walkers and bikers.
