Congratulations to the Cedarcrest FFA organization for their inspiring work at the Evergreen State Fair.

Students Nicole Pearson, Willy Wilen and Byron Galusha placed 3rd for their landscape design presentation. These hard working students spent the last few weeks of their summer vacation, purchasing and planting grasses and flowers to create a distinctive garden design, in preparation for the competition at the Evergreen State Fair.

The students’ design consisted of an impressive combination of plants including New Guinea impatiens, variegated Algerian ivy, dwarf boxwood, creeping jenny, purple fountain grass and fiber optic grass. Their design also included a colorful and operational antique water feature.

“I love going to the Evergreen State Fair every year just to see the projects that our FFA/agriculture students have created and designed. The landscape design was beautiful, and the metals’ projects were outstanding. Mr. Collins and Mrs. Thomas do a fantastic job getting these students ready for these events and competitions,” stated Donna Bielstein, career and technical education director.

FFA advisor Les Collins added, “The members of the Cedarcrest FFA are always ready to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom, as is evident in the students’ participation and in the awards they received.”

Mr. Collins shared the following list of all FFA students’ events, exhibits and awards: Nicole Pearson exhibited in the horse division of the Fair and in several of the riding classes and did a commendable job of showmanship earning blue ribbons in each class entered.
