Mike McMurray
Mike McMurray served the Duvall Fire District 45 community as a volunteer responder and instructor for more than 12 years. McMurray passed away Sept. 16, 2012.

Here is a summary of some of the contributions he has made to the department and the community:

EMT/EMS responder for 12 years

Firefighter for fiveof those years

CPR and first aid instructor

Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention instructor

Rescue boat operator and instructor

Worked five or more 12-hour shifts/month

Responded on more than 2000 aid, fire, or service calls in his 12 years of service

Worked with FEMA in the Southeast U.S. after a devastatinhurricane

Proud to be the oldest department member to pass the annual firefighter physical capability test

First recipient of the department’s Merit Challenge Coin

Vital part of our rescue boat program

Vital part of our recruit training program

Attended every possible training opportunity so as to expand his skills and knowledge

Worked the day or night shift on every  Christmas and Thanksgiving

Voted EMT of the year by department members three times

Received the Duvall Fire Rookie of the Year Award, Chief’s Award, Commissioner Award (twice), and Customer Service Award (three times)

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Riverview School District Educational Service Center(Located on 1st Avenue, between Stella & Stephens).

The service is open to all members of our community; light refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to animal rescue organizations or the Duvall Firefighters Association (DFFA).
