Windermere’s recycling event is a winner

Windermere Woodinville, in partnership with 1 Green Planet, held a free recycling event in its office parking lot on Saturday, September 15. By afternoon’s end, Woodinville neighbors donated 23,000 pounds of recyclables.

“The service was free,” said Will Bruce, owner of Windermere Real Estate Woodinville. “But we accepted donations for the YMCA/North Shore Council PTSA food program run out of the Carol Edwards Center. We collected $1,500 and many baskets of donated food.”

The North Shore Community Kitchen project seeks to address food insecurity for children and their families in our area.

“1 Green Planet trucked away 11-1/2 tons of electronic devices that might otherwise have been disposed of improperly,” said Bruce.  “The environment was a winner.”

In turn, 1 Green Planet, itself a non-profit operation, helps organizations like Seattle Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “This annual office event succeeds because everyone wins,” said Bruce. “We preserve the environment.  We help the YMCA and the North Shore Council feed worthy families. 1 Green Planet donates to children’s health care. Our Woodinville neighbors win as they love to dispose of their electronics responsibly. Our gratification comes from giving back to a community that by its patronage supports our real estate office. It is, as they say, a win-win-win event. That’s why people keep coming back.”
