Chamber Student of the Month copyChrysalis School senior Katie Schecter was named the Student of the Month in October for the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce.

She was honored at the Chamber’s membership luncheon Thursday, October 18, at Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville. There she accepted the award and gave a short speech.

Katie was chosen based on her academics, leadership skills and school pride. She is Chrysalis School’s National Honor Society president.

In addition to her dedication to academics, she competes in equestrian shows and teaches children how to ride horses.

She also gives back to the community by volunteering for Equine Life Solutions – a place for horses to receive rehab.

Katie has accomplished a tremendous amount despite having to overcome hearing deficiencies that she has experienced since birth. She has had several surgeries to correct her hearing and throughout it all has found riding horses therapeutic.

“Riding horses came easy for me because I can communicate with them without needing to hear them,” Schecter said.

Chrysalis is honored to have Schecter represent the school and is proud of her amazing accomplishments. Her teachers have supported her selection as Student of the Month and have voiced their respect for her accomplishments,

“I can’t think of a more deserving student than Katie,” said film teacher Brendon Fogle.
