On Tuesday, Nov. 6, Principal Bill Bagnall, and the Wellington staff and the 580-member student body proudly displayed their patriotic spirit with a rousing Veterans Day program in the school gym.

Speeches were led by the student council officers:  Ellie Mann, Christopher Brendt, Danielle Morris and Lily Pell.

All students participated in the waving of flags and streamers as they shared a variety of songs about freedom and gratitude toward our country’s veterans.

Music teachers, Mrs. Treusch and Mrs. Inghram, and our P.E. teachers, Mrs. Sanderson and Miss Rice worked together to coordinate songs and create two slide shows in celebration of this holiday. Following the assembly, Mrs. Rumsey, office manager, hosted a reception in the library for the veterans, giving them time to meet with each other and share stories of their military experiences. There were over 25 guest veterans in attendance representing many branches of the armed services, and they all expressed their thanks afterwards for such a fine tribute.  The Veterans Day assembly is a proud tradition held at Wellington each year.
