Had it been a prize fight, the referee may have stopped it at the half. By then the Woodinville Lady Falcons were breezing 47-16 on the heels of a 27-point second quarter that featured six 3-pointers, including four by Mackenzie Campbell — virtually from the same spot.

The Lady Falcs knocked down nine threes in the first half, 11 of 29 on the game, en-route to a 73-26 opening night thrashing of Tahoma at home on Tuesday. Employing full court pressure from jump street, Woodinville made a whopping 23 steals, almost all of which led to easy fast break buckets.

“It was a fun game for the girls tonight,” Falcon coach Scott Bullock said in what may be the understatement of the season. “It always helps when the shots are falling.”

Campbell led all scorers with 19 points, on 5 of 6 three-point shooting overall, but wouldn’t go so far as to say she was “in the zone.”

“My first one was an air-ball,” the steely junior said, “but then I found a little rhythm. Missed like all of my lay-ins, though. I don’t know what was going on there.”

Senior captain Kim Frost filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, eight assists, seven steals and five rebounds.

In what was part coming-out party and part track meet, all 13 Lady Falcons who suited up got time on the floor, and 12 of them scored.

Freshman Emily Spencer scored six in her varsity debut.

Bullock, in an act of good sportsmanship, called off the press after halftime. By then the damage was done.

The Lady Falcons travel to South Kitsap Wednesday before returning home to face Redmond Friday at 6:30.
