‘The Joy of Chickens’ at 21 Acres Farm

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

Interested in raising chickens?

Chickens are a fantastic addition to your residential landscape!  They offer fresh eggs, lots of laughs and a constant supply of compost.

This class will teach you the ins and outs of basic coop design, breed selection, raising chicks to chickens and so much more. You will explore the coop on site and get to know eight lovely birds.

The class will go outside to visit the chickens and use them for class discussion. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Teacher will be Jake Harris, owner of Stone Soup Gardens, a full service landscaping company that specializes in edible landscaping and builds urban farms, chicken coops, honeyscapes and rain gardens. Besides its chicken rearing classes, Stone Soup Gardens teaches on-going classes for seasonal vegetable growth, rain gardens and for individuals, businesses and community groups like Seattle Tilth,
