The hard working, easy care camellia is a gardener’s dream plant.

This versatile, evergreen shrub may be used to solve a wide range of landscaping issues.

Camellias are a perfect screening plant, providing privacy or hiding unwanted views; many varieties bloom in the winter, at a time when a touch of color is desperately needed; they can be trained as small trees; and are excellent in containers. To learn more about these elegant workhorses, join Don Marshall, founder of Lake Washington Institute of Technology’s Environmental Horticulture program at a free seminar on Saturday, March 16, 10 -11 a.m. at Molbak’s. Marshall will discuss creative ways to use camellias in the landscape, companion plants, and proper planting, pruning, and fertilizing methods.
