CARNATION — Cowgirl Spirit will host its third annual benefit Poker Ride and Walk on April 13 at Bridle Trails State Park in Kirkland.
Visit www.CowgirlSpirit.org to find out more and to register for this fun and exciting event!
Aside from the Poker Ride and Walk, the event will include a tack sale, lunch for $5, a raffle with horse-related and non-horse-related prizes ($1 per ticket, 6 tickets for $5 – winners need not be present at time of drawing), and fun and exciting entertainment throughout the day.
A Poker Ride is an organized trail ride with a marked route.
Riders collect cards at stations along the trail from Cowgirl Spirit volunteers (you can even win extra prizes along the trail!).
At the end, the riders with the best poker hands win prizes valued at up to $100. It’s a casual, easygoing ride to get you ready for the summer trail ride season.
Come enjoy time with your horse on these beautiful trails and make some new friends while supporting this important local cause.
Cowgirl Spirit will also be offering a Poker Walk for those who want to support the organization at this event, but don’t have or aren’t able to bring a horse.
Walkers will have their own separate course and will be vying for their own prizes.
There will also be fantastic entertainment including “Bribe-your-Horse” events, where horse owners get their horses to follow them through an obstacle course using only treats.
There will also be an “Egg and Spoon Race” which will show off the steadiest horse and rider pairs. These events are always interesting and typically hilarious to watch.
The cost to attend this event is $35 per horse/rider pair, and $25 per walker.
There is no cost to come to the event and watch the entertainment.
Every dollar of the proceeds from this event goes toward the care, feeding and training of the rescue horses of Cowgirl Spirit. Since 2005, this 501c3 organization has rescued, rehabbed, and adopted out over fifty horses. This amazing organization is funded completely by donations, and is run solely by volunteers.
This is one of the group’s largest fundraisers of the year, so join in the fun and help support this cause. “Ghost Riders” are also welcome – register for the event even if you can’t ride or walk or in honor of another rider or walker.
The organization will have Dr. Kelli Taylor, DVM, of Mindful Healing Veterinary Care, and Greer Hei of Naturally Sound Equine on hand on the morning of the event for any emergency veterinary or farrier needs (at the owners’ expense).
To attend the ride, you may pre-register on www.CowgirlSpirit.org. Because of limited space at Bridle Trails, the event is limited to 60 horses and 50 walkers.
Your registration fee includes your state park parking pass, one poker hand ($5 per additional hand), free coffee before the ride, and entertainment in the main arena all day long.
