Congratulations to Blake Hirst who competed in the Washington State Geography Bee. He is the first student from Timbercrest Junior High to ever make it into the top ten final round. He finished 6th in the state.

Four Bothell artists have been selected to participate in this year’s Kirkland Artist Studio Tour. There are 41 artists in all, who will be showcased at 20 galleries and studios over Mother’s Day weekend (May 11-12).

The four Bothell artists are:

• Sandi Bransford — ceramics, jewelry, mixed media

• Susan Burke — painting

• Thea Peterson —  painting, printmaking

• Laurie Riley — painting

The Kirkland Artist Studio Tour is one of the region’s largest studio tours. Most of the participating artists will be at work in the studios both days from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Visitors can ask questions, watch demonstrations and browse through new work.

Keelin Davis, a resident of Woodinville, is a member of the Carleton softball team for the 2013 season. Davis is a graduate of Woodinville High School and is currently a first-year student at Carleton.

Sarah Frazier of Woodinville is completing her master of fine arts degree (MFA) in painting at San Francisco State University this spring. Her work can be viewed at her personal website: www.sarah-frazier.com.

Bothell Municipal Court Judge Michelle Gehlsen has been selected as the Snohomish County Bar Association’s 2012 Judge of the Year. Candidates are nominated by their peers in the judicial community for recent and significant work that furthers the legal profession and enhances the public good. Judge Gehlsen will be honored during the association’s annual dinner on May 4.

“Judge Gehlsen was selected as our Judge of the Year for her outstanding efforts last year in establishing the Bothell Youth Court,” explained Will Steffener, president of the Snohomish County Bar Association.

During the week of March 11, Travis Kroeger served as a page in the Washington State Senate in Olympia.Kroeger was sponsored by Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, D-Bothell. An eighth-grader at St. Brendan Parish School in Bothell, Kroeger, 14, plays basketball, baseball and enjoys skiing.
