For two days only (Thursday, June 27, from 4-7 p.m., and Friday, June 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.), get your cat or dog microchipped for free at the Homeward Pet Dunmire Veterinary Clinic (13132 NE 177th Place, Woodinville).

This offer is good only while supplies last. All animals brought in for microchipping must be spayed or neutered.

Homeward Pet Adoption Center wants your pet to have the best form of identification available to help them find their way home in the event they are ever lost.

Now is the perfect time to microchip your family cat or dog.

More pets go missing around the 4th of July than any other time of year, scared by noisy fireworks.

According to national statistics, animal control officials across the country see a 30-60 percent increase in lost pets each year between July 4th and 6th.

In fact, July 5th is one of the busiest days of the year for many shelters.

A microchip is a permanent form of ID that can never be separated from your pet and is your pet’s best chance of being returned home safely should he ever become lost.  It is smaller than a grain of rice and is injected under the animal’s skin between the shoulder blades.

Each chip has a unique number and is registered in a national database with the owner’s name, address and contact information.

Homeward Pet will include free registration of each microchip during this two-day event.
