Tack sale, open house to benefit horse rescue

Cowgirl Spirit will host an open house and tack sale fundraiser at its headquarters in Carnation July 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit for driving directions and to find out more about the event.

The group will be providing tours of their non-profit rescue facility as well as hosting a tack sale in their newly created on-site dressage arena. Visitors can tour the property, meet the rescue horses and learn about their stories, find out more about Cowgirl Spirit, enjoy hot dogs and soda (for donation), and check out the great deals on new and used tack.

Cowgirl Spirit has been headquartered at Meadow Lake Farm in Carnation for approximately four years, and has been improving the property each year to better serve their rescue horses.

This year’s latest additions are a 70-foot roundpen (thanks to the generous grant from the Snoqualmie Tribe earlier this year), and their full-sized dressage arena which was just recently completed.

"It took a lot of hard work and several generous supporters around the area to make this a reality," said Teri Gustafson, president of Cowgirl Spirit, "But we’re so thrilled to have this new facility on our property. We can now exercise and train our rescues on-site rather than incurring the expense of hauling them to public arenas for training. This means our horses will progress faster and then can be adopted out to new homes much more quickly."

Cowgirl Spirit’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and retrain horses in need, and educate the community to prevent cruelty, neglect, and inhumane slaughter of horses.

Cowgirl Spirit saves neglected and slaughter-bound horses in need by rehabilitating, training and placing them in a lifelong home.

Every horse rescued receives medical attention to address all immediate physical needs and ongoing veterinary and farrier care thereafter. Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team is a non-profit charitable organization with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in the United States, EIN # 20-3454564.
