Theodore John Aarstad Jr.

Obit AarstadTheodore John Aarstad Jr. of Carnation, Wash., was born December 9, 1927, and went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2013. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wines; father, Theodore Aarstad Sr.; daughter, Mary-Margaret Pettifer and son, Randal Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; sons, Theodore (Lynn) Aarstad Sr. of Spirit Lake, Idaho and Ronald (Debra) Brown of Centralia and daughter, Diane (Denny) Driggs of Bainbridge Island;  his brothers, Ronald Aarstad and Marvin (Betty) Aarstad of Gainesville Wis.; his sister, Sharon (Don) Prisk of Fort Atkins, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Theodore (Ted) joined the Navy and at the end of World War II, he served in the occupation of Japan. 

After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1948, he worked as a labor foreman until he retired.

Ted married his sweetheart Audrey in 1963 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 

They enjoyed numerous trips together and have been longtime residents of Carnation for over 36 years.

Ted was a member of the American Legion and was known best for his dancing and hunting abilities.

He had a smile that dazzled all of us. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Tolt Congregational United Church of Christ (4851 Tolt Ave., Carnation, WA 98014) on Tuesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in honor of Ted to the Humane Society www.humanesociety.org.
