Following his recent appearance on television’s "The Voice," former Duvall resident Austin Jenckes returned home October 24 to a rousing welcome as he performed for a crowd of over 900 fans packed into the Riverview Educational Center’s auditorium. The room was rocked by cheers as he repeated the words he used to introduce himself to the television audience: "I’m Austin Jenckes and I am from Duvall, Washington." Jenckes, a 25-year-old Cedarcrest grad, was a regular performer at Duvall’s SummerStage during his high school years and has released six albums. The Duvall Foundation for the Arts organized the event, successfully promoting it on Facebook and around town. Jenckes made the first cut on the TV program and was picked for Blake Shelton’s team. He has since advanced to The Voice live shows. For updates, fans may check Austin’s Facebook page or visit www.austinjenckes.us.
