On November 13, Grant Liebel of Woodinville, a member of Boy Scout Troop 909, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting’s highest honor.Grant served Troop 909 in a variety of leadership positions, earned 29 merit badges, and completed a significant community service project – the installation of bat nurseries at 21 Acres in Woodinville. Grant coordinated a team of Scouts to build and install three bat nurseries on the 21 Acres site to attract and support a population of bats, in order to control the local mosquito population without the use of harmful pesticide chemicals. The bat nurseries were built with reclaimed materials that were waste product from a separate home construction project. Natural pest control and use of reclaimed materials both support the green initiatives of 21 Acres. Grant is grateful to all the people who helped not only with this project, but also during his many enjoyable years of scouting.
