Team up with Gerber Collision to support Childhaven gift drive

Five locations of Gerber Collision & Glass, including their Woodinville shop, have set up donation baskets to help out abused children served by Childhaven this holiday season.

The nonprofit is an organization that seeks to end the cycle of child abuse and neglect through therapeutic care and healing.

"We learned about Childhaven and its mission through a fellow employee, and we were struck with how difficult it is to be a child especially when raised in an environment of abuse," Vince Claudio, Gerber’s vice president for Washington, wrote in an email, adding, "The fact that these were little kids without parents to love and spoil them over the holiday season broke our heart, and we wanted to do anything we could to make their Christmas a little brighter."

Items on the gift wish list include children’s books, school supplies such as crayons, pencil erasers and colored pencils, stuffed animals and small children’s toys for ages five and under. Gifts do not need to be gift-wrapped.

The following shops have baskets for donations: Woodinville, 14201 N.E. 190th Street; Redmond, 14955 NE 90th Street; Bellevue, 13640 N.E. 16th Street; Lynnwood, 21101 Hwy 99 South, Suite A; and Seattle, 3441 Thorndyke Avenue West. Store hours are 7:30 to 5:30, Monday-Friday; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.

The deadline for dropping off donations is December 20. Donations will be delivered the week of Christmas.
