Refresh and renew with indoor plants from Molbak’s

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

January is all about fresh starts and what better way to refresh and renew your home than with indoor plants?

Molbak’s will offer a series of free Saturday seminars focusing on indoor plants during the month of January. Topics include basic care for indoor plants, designing indoor containers, the many health benefits of indoor plants and the art and science of feng shui.

All seminars are presented by local experts.

Molbak’s kicks off the series with Indoor Plant Care 101, on January 11, 11 a.m.-noon, with Molbak’s plant expert Anna Busse. Busse’s presentation will include information on watering, fertilizing, light requirements and repotting. This is a must-attend for anyone unsure of how to care for indoor plants.

Busse is followed at 1 p.m. by Molbak’s designer Jodi Burkland. In her seminar, Designing Indoor Container Gardens, Burkland will demonstrate how easy it is to design indoor containers balancing foliage color, blooms and texture to create lush container gardens that will be beautiful all year round. This is a great opportunity to pick up tips from an expert and see how to achieve that professionally designed look.

On January 18, 11 a.m.-noon, Bastyr University’s naturopathic doctor and author Jenn Dazey will focus on the many health benefits of indoor plants.

"Several easy-to-grow houseplants have proven to be incredible air purifiers," states Dazey. Curious which are the most effective? Join Dazey as she presents The Many Benefits of Indoor Plants and explains how indoor plants clean the air, reduce health risks and help us adapt to the changing seasons.

Darielle Archer, holistic health practitioner and owner of The Positive Works, will finish out the day at 1 p.m. with her presentation, The Art and Science of Feng Shui.

Archer will explain the basic tenets of the ancient Chinese design philosophy feng shui and how a few simple steps can bring a sense of balance and harmony to a home or office.
