Richard and Karen James of Woodinville are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Denise, to 2nd Lt. Micah Hignight of Jefferson, Ore.
The ceremony took place on May 25, 2013, at the Royalty Pecan Farms orchard in College Station, Texas. The bride’s sister, Jennifer, and her close friends Elise Corbin and Nicole Sternagel, all from Woodinville, were bridesmaids.
The groomsmen were the groom’s buddies from his unit B-Company of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
The bride graduated from Woodinville High School in 2008. She attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Company I-1. She served as the unit’s company commander before graduating Texas A&M with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.
The groom served as the executive officer of B-Company and as a member of Bugle Rank for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. His responsibilities also included preparing over 60 future military officers for their summer officer training course as his ROTC detachment’s field training preparation commander. Micah graduated in May 2013 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the United States Air Force.
The couple met at Texas A&M through mutual friends during their sophomore year. They enjoy country western dancing at the local dance hall and serving their community as members of the Ross Volunteer Drill Company and through their church’s children ministries.
After a honeymoon in Biarritz, France, the couple now resides in Cheyenne, Wyo., with their dogs, Ginny and Cody.
Micah is serving as a missile operator at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, and Denise is an accountant at Halley & Murray, CPAs.
