CARNATION — On June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m., Camp Korey at Carnation Farm, will open their beautiful, historic grounds to the community for “Family Day,” a summer kick-off celebration honoring the entire Camp Korey family. Campers, parents, volunteers, donors, friends and local community members will enjoy an afternoon of camp activities, including a scavenger hunt, face painting, arts and crafts, pet therapy, gardening, as well as wood-fired slices by Veraci Pizza.

Camp Korey is honored to welcome special guest Clea Newman-Soderlund (Paul Newman’s daughter) to Family Day where she will share the importance of the  camp to her and her family.

Mrs. Newman-Soderlund joined the SeriousFun Children’s Network team in early 2013 as senior director of external affairs where she works to advance her father’s dream to bring serious fun to more children and families worldwide.

“Family is at the core of everything Camp Korey stands for,” says Tim Rose, Camp Korey’s founder and board president. “We are thrilled to invite our entire camp family and local community members to Family Day, where we will have fun, celebrate our incredible accomplishments together and experience the magic of Camp Korey firsthand.”

When their son Korey lost his battle against bone cancer at age 18, Tim Rose and his family were determined to help other families coping with serious medical conditions.

Rose drew inspiration from the late Paul Newman’s SeriousFun Camps, which provide cost-free camp experiences to children with serious medical conditions and their families.
Camp Korey was founded in 2005.
Today Camp Korey at Carnation Farm provides cost-free camp experiences to over 3,000 participants annually through residential programs, special events and outreach to hospitals throughout the Northwest.
Camp Korey wishes to thank the community for nurturing and supporting their mission over the last eight years.
