'Plant explorer' to lecture

lecture Intrepid British plant explorer James Compton will present "New Asian Plants" Nov. 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 N.E. 41st St., Seattle.
    Compton, trained at Kew Gardens, spent 10 years supervising Chelsea Physic Garden in London. When he's not plant-hunting around the world, writing articles, or contributing to books, he works towards his Ph.D in botany at Reading University.
    The horticulture advisor to Gardens Illustrated magazine, Compton has traveled to China, South Africa, Korea, Mexico, and Europe, with special treks into Turkey, Crete, and Corsica.
    Cost for the presentation is $7 for members; $10 non-members. Coffee will be served at 7 p.m. For more information, call 527-1794.
