Inglemoor falls to Curtis in state football quarterfinals
The powerful Viking football machine came to a grinding halt Friday night as Curtis of Tacoma put Inglemoor out of playoff action with a 34-12 win.
On a blowy, stormy night at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell, when even some of the lights went out, the Vikings scored only twice in the Class AAA state quarterfinal and committed five turnovers, assisted by a tough Curtis defense.
Both Viking touchdowns were scored by Ronel Aquino, who ran 61 yards for the first early in the game, then caught a Justin Stolmeier TD pass in the final quarter.
A Kingco record-tying punt by Jackson Fuiten that went 76 yards put Curtis on the 5-yard line in the fourth quarter.
But Inglemoor was unable to mount an offense to put any more points on the board.
It was only the second loss for the 9-2 Vikings, Kingco Conference champions. The other loss was a defeat by Northshore rival Woodinville at the end of the regular season.
At the state finals, Inglemoor placed 10th with 85 points, followed by Woodinville in 16th place with 50.50 points, and Bothell in 18th with 38 points.
