Woodinville Spirit wins Championship

girls basketball Representing Woodinville High School, the ninth grade "Spirit" basketball team won its championship at Mercer Island High School and is 7-0 for the season.
   In Game 1 of the Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament, Spirit downed Juanita 56-22, led by Lindsey Brown and Meredith Konsmo, who both posted 10 points. Beth Grove had 10 rebounds.
   In Game 2, Spirit topped Lake Washington with a nail-biting 47-45 finish. Chelsea Pumel led Spirit with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
   In Game 3, Spirit topped Redmond with a whopping 78-30 victory. Four players posted double figures, with Brown scoring 18 points and Grove with 12 rebounds.
   The semi-finals pitted Spirit against Inglemoor, with Spirit rising above 41-33. Brown posted 12 points and Grove had 16 rebounds.
   In the championship round, Spirit was again triumphant, dropping Snohomish 50-43, Konsmo posting 12 points and Grove with 12 rebounds.
