Of the 176 children dancing in the three casts of Pacific Northwest Ballet's "Nutcracker," there are 21 from this area.
Hailey Buser, the daughter of Kathy and Burton Buser, is dancing the part of Pirlipat and appears in the toy theatre segment of the ballet. She is a 10-year-old 5th grader at Mill Creek Elementary.
This is the third year Ashley Clarke, daughter of Debbie and Robb Clarke, has danced in the "Nutcracker." The Canyon Park Junior High student portrays a tall servant.
Milissa Delamerced, also a tall servant, is the 12-year-old daughter of Benerita and Victor Delamerced. She is in the 7th grade at St. Mark's in Lake Forest Park. This is her 5th year in "Nutcracker."
Alexis Rea, daughter of Bill and Jodi Rea, is a student at Jackson High School. During this, her 5th season with the ballet, she is playing the part of Mother Mouse, a Scrim Mouse, and is part of the cavalry. Alexis is also a behind-stage runner. She will take part in 34 performances.
Lauren Brown is enjoying her first year in the "Nutcracker." The 12-year-old Skyview Junior High student is the daughter of Greg and Stacy Brown. She appears in the infantry.
Kirsta Paul, 12, also a Skyview student, is making her 5th appearance in the ballet as a member of the infantry. She is the daughter of David and Patti Paul.
Talia Shores is the daughter of Debbie and David Shores. She has been dancing for five years, but this is her first year in the ballet. The third grader is playing the part of an officer with the artillery cannon.
Elisabeth Hull, the 11-year-old daughter of Kathy and Greg Hull, is appearing in "Nutcracker" for the first time. She is a member of the infantry. Dancing is very important to Elisabeth, as it is to all these dancers, but it has special meaning to the Hull family. It provides wonderful entertainment for her brother, Samuel, who is blind. He listens to Elisabeth's twin sister Rebecca playing Tchaikovsky on the piano and feels the pounding of Elisabeth's feet on the floor as she dances her part.
Other "Nutcracker" dancers include Jessica Davis as a party girl; Scott and Carolyn Branteng, officers; Lindsey Burnham, small servant; Catherine Hooper, a tall servant; Shawna Ward, tall servant; Adam Hughes as a little boy; Kira Elste, infantry; Aneila Hogan, Amaris Morrison, and Whitney Offenbeher, all members of the infantry and toy theatre.
"Nutcracker" runs through Dec. 30. Call 292-ARTS for information.
