   This holiday season, save a life by giving blood. It takes just an hour of time and can make a difference for a patient in need. If you are at least 18 years of age (16 or 17 with a signed permision form) and weigh at least 110 pounds, you are probably eligible to donate. MacPherson's sponsors "Be a Better Neighbor" drive

    MacPherson's/Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate is continuing its holiday food drive to help needy Puget Sound area families this holiday season. Between now and Dec. 23, all MacPherson's/Better Homes & Gardens offices, including Woodinville's, will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items. All donations will be given to the food bank nearest to the MacPhersohn's branch involved, so each office can most directly benefit the community they serve. The MacPherson's/Better Homes & Gardens office in Woodinville is located at 17820 130th Ave. NE.

Holiday assistance available

    The Salvation Army offers Christmas assistance to low-income residents in King County. Families will receive food vouchers for a traditional holiday dinner and a new toy for each of their children age 12 and under. Parents are screened for eligibility. Identification for each family member, Social Security cards for each adult, proof of residence and income are required. Salvation Army Christmas Centers are located in Seattle, Bellevue, White Center, Renton, Federal Way, and Kent. All centers, except Kent, will remain open until noon, Dec. 22, or while toy supplies last.

Children's Museum offers creative experiences for families

    Prepare cuisine in France, experience 19th Century life in Snohomish County, and create masterpieces in the Creative Castle at the Children's Museum in Snohomish County. Located at 3013 Colby in Everett, the museum is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2 per child and adult; children under 2, free.

Women's health study

    Women ages 15 and older are needed for a research study in which North Seattle Women's Group, P.S., is testing an investigational approach to treating bacterial vaginosis (BV), a medical condition often undetected or misdiagnosed as a yeast infection. Call (800) 506-9091 by Dec. 30.

Families need coats

    "Coats for Kids" helps low income families in the Puget Sound area who would otherwise be without warm winter coats. The public is encouraged to drop off new and gently worn winter coats at all Corry's Fine Drycleaning or Incredible Universe locations through Dec. 15. Coats may also be dropped off at the KSTW Channel 11 offices at 2033 6th Ave. in Seattle. Corry's will clean all donated coats, free of charge. For details, call 206-572-5789.

Children's party needs gifts

    The Postal Store will be accepting donations of toys and other gifts for children of all ages through Dec. 15 for the 4th annual Millionaire Club Children's Christmas Party to be held Dec. 17. Take donations to 19145 NE Woodinville-Duvall Rd., across from the Cottage Lake Safeway.

'Prime Time' project needs volunteers

    The Redmond Boys and Girls Club is seeking volunteers to help with its late night program for teens called Prime Time. Volunteers are especially needed Dec. 15 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Inglewood Junior High. Call 836-9295.

Bank aids nursing home

    Now through Dec. 15, the Woodinville office of Frontier Bank is collecting items for the Franciscan Health Care System in Bothell. Those who wish to participate should bring unwrapped purchases to the bank at 17331 135th Ave. in downtown Woodinville. Items needed by the patients include: inexpensive, colorful, large jewelry for ladies, hair bows, ties for men, picture frames (3x5-inches), bright mobiles or sun catchers, small packs of facial tissues, slippers, lap robes, and hand lotion.
