Washington Special Olympians show their skills at tournament

Special Olympics Nearly 1,000 Special Olympics athletes from the state of Washington competed in Seattle last month in the1995 Washington Special Olympics Fall Sports Tournament.
   The event was held at Seattle University, Leilani Lanes, Seward Park, and Everett Skate Deck.
   Athletes competed in volleyball, bowling, long distance racing, and roller skating. Competition in each sport included individual skills, team, and Unified Divisions.
   In Unified competition, Special Olympics athletes and persons from the community played on the same team.
   Sponsors of the tournament included the Embassy Suites Hotel and Seafirst Bank.
   Local athletes participating in bowling were Ian Anderson, Cheri Ball, Mike Cady, Jason Center, Chris Cook, Heidi Evans, Jaimi Lopez, Emily Martinek, Bobby McCurdy, and Desra Scollard.
