Christmas tree recycling

tree recycling Local King County residents can dispose of their Christmas trees free of charge Jan. 5-8 and 12-14 at a drop site in Woodinville. The empty lot, located at NE North Woodinville Way and 144th Avenue NE, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The county's tree-cycling program applies only to Christmas trees. Normal transfer station fees will be charged for loads that have other waste mixed in with Christmas trees.
Acceptable trees should be four inches or less in diameter, cut in sections of eight feet or less, and free of all decorations, including metal hooks and tinsel. Artificial or flocked trees will not be accepted.
Trees collected through the tree-cycling program will be chipped and made into compost for landscaping projects. For more information, call the King County Solid Waste Division at 296-4466.
Some residents may be able to discard trees with normal curbside yard waste. Contact haulers for details and restrictions.
