Women's club hosts brunch

    Area women are invited to a "Mad Hatter" brunch at the Inglewood Country Club in Kenmore Jan. 10, 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., hosted by the Northshore Christian Women's Club. The event will feature hat fashions and their history. Cost is $10.50. Make reservations by Jan. 5 at 836-4165. The club has no formal membership or dues and offers complimentary childcare.

Home show in Puyallup

    This year the Puyallup Home Show will run Jan. 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Jan. 7 from 10 to 6 p.m. at the Western Washington Fairgrounds. Exhibitors and experts on home and garden will be featured at this show, which is always the first of the year. Admission is $6 for adults, and children 12 and under are free. Parking is free. Used clothing pickups

    Community Services for the Blind will pick up reusable clothing and household items right at your door, and use them to support local programs for visually impaired persons. Call 1-800-472-2244 for the next free pickup in your neighborhood.

Mill Creek Health fair

    The Columbia Athletic Club, 15906 Mill Creek Blvd., will hold a Health Fair Jan. 8, 4 to 8 p.m., with more than 20 area businesses participating, plus a raffle and drawing by a caricature artist. For information, call 337-5050.

Shoreline hosts Martin Luther King Jr. celebration

    In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., community members are invited to join the students, faculty, and staff of Shoreline Community College for a day of speakers and entertainment Jan. 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Call 546-4541 for information.

Learn meditation at UW Bothell

    The UW Women's Center will present "Meditation for Busy People" at the Bothell Campus on four Wednesdays beginning Jan. 10. Cost of the class is $50 general and $45 for UW students, staff, and seniors.
