Woodinville Civic Center Committee sets public hearing Jan. 9
A public meeting on Jan. 9 will be the last opportunity for residents living in the Woodinville 98072 zip code to comment on a civic center proposed for the Sorenson School site.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be in the council chambers behind Woodinville City Hall, at 13203 NE 175th St. in downtown Woodinville.
"We've added more details to our proposal, based on the positive feedback we got at a Dec. 19 community meeting," said Larry Chime, chairman of the Citizens' Advisory Panel (CAP). The CAP's proposed center would include city government, Chamber of Commerce, historical museum, teen center, meeting rooms, performing arts hall, senior center, farmer's market, trails, parking, and existing fields.
The CAP will go before the Woodinville City Council in February with its plan, recommending that the council put a bond issue before voters in spring, 1996 to purchase the 10.5 acre site from the Northshore School District.
The 10.5-acre parcel has been surplused by the Northshore School District, and negotiations have been taking place between the City of Woodinville and the school district for the property and the buildings. The cost range for the parcel and buildings is between $8 million and $12 million. The spring bond issue would also address the civic center. Persons unable to attend Jan. 9 may fax their comments to project architects Easters & Kittle at 392-7409.
