After a disappointing holiday season, 11-year-old Margaret Sauer can look forward to a brighter new year.
Magaret is the lucky winner of a trip for two to Disneyland, with two night's hotel accommodations, from Woodinville Travel and the 25-member Woodinville Towne Center Merchants Association.
Margaret's season had been less than jolly. Her family had just moved up from San Francisco three months ago, and their four birds and dog had died, the birds from the cold and the dog from kidney problems.
She entered the contest at Italianissimo last fall after a dinner with her grandparents, who were visiting from Montana. Margaret's mother, Theresa, was skeptical about Margaret's chances for winning.
"I put it in the box and she said 'I don't think you're gonna win,'" said Margaret Sauer.
Margaret says she's been to Disneyworld, but not Disneyland, and plans on taking her mother on the trip as a mother-daughter outing.
When asked when they might take the trip, Margaret said next weekend. After checking with a look from her mom, she took a different approach: "Probably like soon, hopefully!"
