benefit gala The eighth annual Preview Party for the Northwest Flower and Garden Show will brighten the Washington State Convention and Trade Center Tuesday, Feb. 6, 5:30-8:30 p.m., in the biggest annual fundraising activity of the Washington Park Arboretum Foundation.
   The popular party offers guests a leisurely opportunity to preview more than 30 display gardens, orchid displays, bonsai exhibits, and the adult and children's floral competitions, before the show opens to the public on Feb. 7.
   Included is a buffet of hors d'oeuvres, champagne, wine, beer, and other sparkling beverages, plus musical entertainment by the Lakeside Upper School Orchestra.
   The annual gala has raised more than $175,000 since 1989 toward the renovation of Azalea Way, a 3/4-mile Arboretum promenade lined with flowering cherries, azaleas, and dogwoods.
   Tickets are $50 for Arboretum Foundation members and $55 for non-members. All ticket sales are in advance. For more information, call 325-4510.
