parent outreach The Northshore School District Reading Council sponsored its annual parent outreach program "Reading In The Mall" Saturday in the center court of Alderwood Mall. The event is designed to show parents how much fun it is to read to their young children.
Throughout the day, 70 Northshore teachers, administrators, and special guests, including Margo Myers and T. Wheedle from KOMO-TV, volunteered their time to share some of their favorite picture books with children visiting the mall.
The council notes that research very clearly concludes that those children who are read to at home are significantly more likely to become good readers themselves. The group thanked KOMO Television and Alderwood Mall for their support.
