Chocolates and red wine

Chateau Ste. Michelle is holding two special Valentine events.
A "Cabernet and Chocolate" tasting, hosted by culinary director John Sarich, is set for Thursday, Feb. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. This free event will pair cabernet sauvignons with selected fine chocolates. The wines will include Chateau Ste. Michelle's 1993 Cabernet, along with several of the winery's older vintage library wines. For information on the tasting, call 488-4696.
A romantic five-course "Red Wine for Your Valentine" dinner will be held Feb. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. in the winery's Barrel Room. Appetizers will be served at 7 p.m. in the Chateau lobby, and dinner by candlelight will begin at 7:45. Fresh seasonal Northwest foods will be featured, and each course will be accompanied by a Chateau Ste. Michelle wine, including the 1993 Horse Heaven VIneyard Merlot and the 1993 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Franc, both limited releases. Cost for the dinner event is $75 per person. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Call 488-4684.

Gourmet chocolates and fine wines will be served by Silver Lake Sparkling Cellars of Woodinville in honor of St. Valentine Feb. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. The samplings are free.
A bottle of wine will be awarded to the person who can best describe the relationship and/or differences between cupids and cherubs.
Silver Lake is located just off the Woodinville exit from Highway 522 at 17721 132nd Ave. NE. For more information, call 486-1900.
