More than 250 Cottage Lake students and their parents showed up Jan. 26 at the Leota Junior High School Gym for an old-fashioned sock hop.
Mothers and their daughters came in 1950s-style poodle skirts and pony tails. Fathers and sons were there in leather jackets or jeans with white t-shirts and slicked-back hair. David Carroll got into the swing of things as Elvis Presley.
The sock hop was a perfect chance for the Cottage Lake students to practice the '50s dances they had been learning at school, and many demonstrated the "jitterbug" for their parents, who quickly got into the spirit of the evening.
