Substance abuse program reaches out to seniors

substance abuse Seniors needing help with substance abuse are the focus of a program entitled Senior Alcohol Assistance Services, implemented with the cooperative efforts of the Seattle/King County Division on Aging and the Northshore Senior Center, among others.
   The services include assessment, intensive outpatient treatment, deferred prosecutions, individual and family counseling, education about substance abuse, and ongoing group support.
   Outreach efferts target seniors from underserved populations. A certified chemical dependency counselor directs the program.
