Free tax assistance
Volunteer assistance with income tax returns will be provided by accounting students at Lake Washington Technical College each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 12 to 3 p.m., Feb. through April 15, 1996, in the East Building Mall.
Volunteers help people with basic tax returns, particularly those with low and fixed incomes, individuals with disabilities, elderly taxpayers, and individuals who speak English as a second language. Many volunteers are fluent in other languages can assist non-English speakers in Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Hindi, Punjabi, and Mandarin and Taiwanese Chinese.
Volunteers require several documents to complete a tax return: this year's tax package and/or label; all W-2 and 1099 forms; all applicable tax return forms and schedules; information for other income or deductons and credits; and a copy of last year's tax return.
