Woodinville Spirit holds tryouts

   The Woodinville Spirit girls select basketball program will be holding tryouts for next year's 8th grade team Mar. 5, 6-8:30 p.m. at W.A. Anderson Gym, 18603 Bothell Way NE, Bothell. Spirit plays other select teams throughout the Puget Sound area. It is made up only of girls who will eventually attend Woodinville High School. The Spirit program is entering its 8th year. Besides a regular schedule, Spirit teams also play in several tournaments each year, adding to the competitive and learning experience. Chilly Willy set to roll

   The official opening of the cycling season, Cascade Bicycle Club's Chilly Willy, will be held Feb. 25 on Bainbridge Island. Entry forms are available at area bicycle shops with a $17 Seattle start (includes round trip ferry ticket.) For details, call 522-BIKE.

National basketball tourney announced

   All American Cage Classic will sponsor a youth National Basketball Tournament for 4th-9th grade boys' and girls' teams. District play begins in April at 6 district sites. Cost is $175 per team. For details, call 878-5791.

Fastpitch tryouts

   The Bellevue Diamond Dolls, an 18 and under girls' fastpitch club, will hold its final tryout for the 1996 season on March 2 from noon to 3 p.m. at Samammish High School in Bellevue. For information, call 888-9796.

Snapple tourney set in Sultan

   The Snapple Shootout Youth Basketball Tournament will be held Feb. 24 and 25 in Sultan. Divisions include: 5th/6th grade boys, 7th grade boys, 8th grade boys, 5th/6th grade girls, 7th grade girls and 8th grade girls. Cost is $160 per team. Call 360-794-0655 for information.

Dinner and auction benefit baseball team

   The Northshore Hawks, a select baseball team of 14-year-olds from Mill Creek, Bothell, Woodinville, Kenmore, and Redmond, invite the public to a fund-raising dinner, dance, and auction March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Mill Creek Country Club. Donations for the auctions are still needed. Cost is $50 per couple. Proceeds will be used for uniforms, equipment, and tournament fees. Call 481-6921.
