Plans underway for 'Celebrate Woodinville 1996'

Volunteers needed for annual event

Celebrate Woodinville Individuals and groups are encouraged to volunteer to help with "Celebrate Woodinville," Woodinville's annual celebration, Mar. 30.
The area-wide effort celebrates youth, family, and community with a full day of events, including the 19th Annual All Fools' Day Parade and Basset Bash, City of Woodinville 3rd Birthday party, Children's Fair, and other activities.
Merchants and shoppers need to remember that NE 175th Street will be closed between 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The parade marshalling area this year is at the Woodinville Park and Ride, closing parts of 140th NE, NE 175th, and the Woodinville-Snohomish Road. Detours will be on the north and south bypasses.
The Woodinville Farmers Market will kick off their season with a two-day event Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call Grant Davidson at 485-1042.
The Woodinville Towne Center's "All Fools' Fair" will also be Saturday and Sunday from 10-5, with activities and a craft fair. Community groups who want to participate can call Bob Milton at Post Net, 485-9347; craft vendors should call Darlene Pearson at 487-2920.
Woodinville Plaza will hold a sidewalk sale from 10 to 5 and Children's Activity from 1 to 5.
The "All Fools' Day Parade" begins at 11 a.m. For more information, call the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce, 481-8300, or Glen Kelly, 483-1718.
From 12-4 p.m., Celebrate Woodinville '96 activities will be held at the City Hall grounds. They include a Community Open House & Birthday Party with birthday cake and a Children's Activity Fair from 12 to 4 in the Sorenson Gym. Community groups with an activity for children can contact Catherine Howard from the Kiwanis Club of Woodinville at 481-6959 to participate. A Karaoke machine is needed to run the "Karaoke for Kids" program for this activity. Call Gretchen Garth at Teen Northshore and leave a message on the Hotline at 344-6417.
A center stage outside will host local performers. Youth talent is particularly encouraged to apply.
Seniors from the community can volunteer for the Community Am*basset*ors to distribute printed materials; contact Karen Martyn, 788-5223.
Food booths will be on the grounds of City Hall; call Brenda Vanderloop, 481-8300.
Bassets are encouraged to register and bring their owners to the 13th Annual Basset Bash competition, 1:30 to 5 p.m. on the Sorenson Playfield. Registration is $7 per basset; owners are free. Call Patti or Gary Greene, 788-2211.
The annual teen dance, "Teen Mix for '96," will be held at C.O. Sorenson Gym from 8-11 p.m. Teen volunteers and chaperones are needed. Call Catherine Howard at 481-6959 or Dave Leggett at 483-2131.
