Kids learn to be 'Peer Proof'
Camp Fire has scheduled its four-session course "I'm Peer Proof" for youth in 4th through 6th grade, March 4, 6, 11, and 13 (Mondays/Wednesdays) from 7-8:30 p.m., at the Eastside Camp Fire Office in Redmond's Family Resource Center, 16315 NE 87th, Ste. B-2. Cost is $20.
"I'm Peer Proof" helps youngsters learn, through games and role playing, about being a good friend and making friends. Children also learn how to distinguish between assertive and non-assertive behaviors, how to make good choices when faced with peer pressure, and how to say "no" to a friend and still feel "okay." Boys and girls learn 'Friends are Fun'
Camp Fire's program called "Friends Are Fun" for children in grades 1 and 2 is scheduled for March 5, 7, and 12 (Tues./Thurs./Tues.) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Family Resource Center in Redmond. Cost is $12.
"Friends Are Fun" helps young children learn about friendship and what it means to be assertive, non-assertive, or aggressive. Children learn about giving and receiving compliments, ways to deal with teasing, about Camp Fire's "No Put-Down Zone," and more.
